Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Review
Total play time: 15 hours
Having skipped the PS3 altogether, the ONE series that always intrigued me was (you guessed it!) Sony’s Uncharted games. Lucky for me they released the Uncharted collection in 2015. That allowed me to catch up, and prepare for Uncharted 4 which released 6 months later. I recommend everyone to play the 2nd and 3rd one before this one. It will resonate a lot more if you do.
Here is my full review:
No better story in all of gaming (except maybe Witcher 3). The voice acting and subtle non-verbal tells by each character is above and beyond anything in gaming. Naughty Dog are the masters of storytelling and cutscenes. This is the bread and butter of this game. They have done a killer job, and makes you wonder why they do it so much better than all the others.
Naughty Dog have magicians working for them. No really. This game looks so freakin’ good, it shames the entire industry. How did they even achieve this? The best art in the industry. Full stop.
The game is a lot of fun, but is a bit shallow in my taste. It also overstays it’s welcome in certain spots, and you end up doing the same shit for a good part of the game. I wish they would’ve rewarded the player for exploration in better ways, and also had more options in customization etc… But don’t get me wrong, when it comes to adventure, no other game does it like Uncharted. I just wish is had … more.
